If earning points is a priority, the Hamilton Princess or Fairmont Southampton are your better options in Bermuda as both carry Fairmont's loyalty program. The tradeoff at The Reefs is direct-booking flexibility and a more personal service model that chains rarely match at this size.

The St. Regis Bermuda and Hamilton Princess both position themselves as prestige town-and-beach options; The Reefs is the stronger call if the South Shore cliff-and-cove setting is the specific draw.

The property sits on South Shore Road in Southampton, directly above one of Bermuda's pink-sand cove beaches, which is the core reason to choose it over the competition. The location is remote by design — Hamilton is a 20-to-25-minute scooter or taxi ride west — so guests who want easy access to the capital or St. George's should weigh that distance seriously. For a stay built around the beach, the South Shore position is a genuine asset.

Prioritize the cliff-side or oceanfront categories over garden-view rooms; the beach and water access is the primary reason to choose The Reefs, and interior-facing rooms undercut that value significantly. Club-level rooms add service perks that are worth considering for longer stays. If budget is the constraint, book the lowest cliff-side tier rather than a garden room at a higher tier — the view differential matters more here than at most properties.

The pool sits above the cove with South Shore ocean views, which is its main selling point over a standard resort pool layout. The spa is a smaller operation than what you will find at Fairmont Southampton or Rosewood Bermuda, so do not book The Reefs specifically as a spa destination. For guests who plan to spend most of their time on the beach or at the pool, the setup is entirely adequate; serious spa itineraries belong at Rosewood.
